Sai Dharam Tej on Sunday met with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to discuss the issue of “curbing child abuse”. The meeting came a week after the CM acted upon a complaint the actor had raised via social media against a pedophilic YouTube video.
After calling on the CM, the ‘Republic’ actor thanked him for giving him his “valuable time to listen, understand and discuss the way forward to curb child abuse and the misuse of social media”. The ‘Virupaksha’ actor further added, “Thanks for extending your highest assurance of stringent rules and action to make our society a safe place for children. May this be the big step towards change.”
The question on many a mind is this: Why did the CM give an appointment to the actor? Is Sai Tej a child rights activist? Has he done any scholarly research on child abuse in our society? Is he a public intellectual? These are the questions many are asking.
Usually, someone of the CM’s stature doesn’t host any and every celebrity. A Minister hosting Sai Tej wouldn’t have been surprising.
