This marks my first portrayal of a cop in a Telugu film, having previously taken on similar roles in Tamil and Malayalam. With investigative thrillers gaining popularity, I’ve always sought diversity in Telugu cinema, and ‘Kota Bommali PS’ provided that opportunity.
The intriguing cat-and-mouse dynamic involving Srikanth and me, both portraying cops, adds depth to the storyline. Exploring the repercussions when a fellow officer goes rogue and the complexities of a cop turning into a criminal forms a captivating aspect of the film.
In the Telugu adaptation, my character’s role is more substantial compared to the Malayalam original, ‘Nayattu.’ While the movie isn’t heavily political, there are subtle references to the electoral system, touching on voting behaviors to some extent.
For the first time in my career, I portrayed a character who smokes. It was a humorous experience feigning enjoyment, and I would feel a bit uneasy after the director called ‘Cut.’ As an artist, I believe in immersing myself in the character, always striving to play roles that leave a lasting impact on the audience.
The outdoor shoot, set in challenging locations like a jungle, presented its own set of difficulties. Despite limited scenes with Srikanth, who is a humble and amiable person, the experience was enjoyable. Director Teja Marni’s soft-spoken nature contributed to a positive working environment.
