Director Ram Ganni assures that “The Trial” will captivate the audience as an interrogative thriller with a concise screenplay. The upcoming film, featuring Spandana Palli, Yug Ram, and Vamsi Kotu in lead roles, is a joint production of SS Films and Common Man Productions, with Smriti Sagi and Srinivasa Naidu Killada as producers and Sudarshan Reddy as the co-producer. Set to release in theaters on the 24th of this month, the movie is helmed by Ram Ganni as Tollywood’s first interrogative film.
During a media interaction about “The Trial,” Director Ram Ganni shared insights into his journey and the unique aspects of the film:
Born Ramanaidu Ganni, with a hometown in Vizag, he transitioned from a ten-year career as a Deputy Jailer to pursue his passion for movies. Inspired by crime incidents and prisoner stories from his previous role, he conceptualized the fictional narrative of “The Trial.”
The film is titled Tollywood’s first interrogative film because it unfolds entirely within an interrogation room, from the beginning to the end.
The story kicks off with a couple celebrating their first wedding anniversary, where a surprising incident leads to the central question of whether it was murder or suicide. The interactions between the characters, especially the tough conversation between the interrogation officer and a woman SI, add depth to the plot.
Initially considered for an OTT release, the decision to release in theaters was influenced by the requirement of a theatrical release for OTT platforms. The film explores different locations and incorporates interrogation scenes reminiscent of films like “Save the Cat,” Akira Kurosawa’s “Rashomon,” and Adivi Sesh’s “Evaru.”
Spandana Palli was cast for the character of SI Roopa due to her height, with the belief that she embodied the role convincingly.
Ram Ganni is currently involved in a web series with Sehari Movie Production House Vargo Pictures and has plans for future projects, including one with dark humor and a superhero story.
The film, with a duration of 1 hour 39 minutes, promises an engaging and crisp screenplay, avoiding any moments of boredom. “The Trial” will be released through PVR, and the director expresses confidence in the content, assuring that the audience will find the movie both entertaining and meaningful.
