Thalapathy Vijay’s first mass gathering on Sunday was a huge success. The actor’s young party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam, attracted anywhere from five to six lakh people.
Speaking on the occasion, Vijay said that he entered politics at the peak of his acting career. He vowed to fight communalism and corruption.
Vijay hit out at both the BJP and the DMK in his speech. The latter came in for attack for not being able to deliver corruption-free governance.

The actor-politician said that his party will not be anybody’s B-Team. In other words, it won’t ally with any major party and be a subordinate. In 2026, it will contest all Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu.
Vijay funded his first rally from his own pocket, reports say. Speculative reports say that he has already spent about Rs 80 Cr on his party activities. His mission is to build a strong cadre by the next Assembly elections.
Vijay will be doing a film directed by H Vinoth. He charged Rs 200 Cr as fee for ‘The GOAT’. He is said to be charging even more for his final film.
