Telugu Funda Felt More of Stickiness Rather Than Flavour In ‘BUBBLEGUM.’

Telugu Funda Review for Bubble Gum

Maheshwari Movies, known for its penchant for innovative storytelling, is set to unfold a contemporary tale titled ‘Bubblegum.’ The movie, bankrolled by Maheshwari Movies and spearheaded by TG Vishwa Prasad from People Media Factory, is poised to capture hearts with Roshan Kanakala and Manasa Chowdary in the lead roles.

Plot

Aadi (portrayed by Roshan Kanakala) and Jhanvi (played by Maanasa Choudhary) hail from contrasting socio-economic backgrounds. Aadi is the son of a butcher (Chaitu Jonnalagadda), while Jhanvi comes from affluent parents who have lived together in a live-in relationship for twenty-five years. Aadi aspires to pursue a career in music, while Jhanvi has a clear direction in her professional life. She indulges in Aadi’s pursuit of winning her affections just for amusement, whereas for him, it’s a serious, lifelong commitment.

Their differing perspectives lead to complications when an unexpected incident occurs during a birthday celebration in Goa, creating a divide between them. How they navigate themselves out of this predicament becomes the crux of their story. Will they find a way to reconcile and find peace with each other despite the challenges that arise?

Performances

Roshan shared his experience of facing body shaming due to his appearance and skin tone, asserting, “I will persevere no matter what. This is who I am.” This sentiment echoed at the film’s pre-release event. In ‘Bubblegum,’ his character embodies a fighter for dignity, mirroring his resolute off-screen persona. His naturalistic energy elevates many scenes, compensating for the lack of substance in some.

Even as a debutant Roshan needs to come out of his shell and a lot of work needs to be done on his acting.

Maanasa, a Telugu native raised in Chennai, provides a calming presence in a film that struggles with a contrived treatment style.

Harsha Chemudu, portraying a clown-like character who dampens Aadi’s moments of joy, alongside Kiran Macha, Anannyaa Akulaa, Harshvardhan, Anu Hasan, Chaitu Jonnalagadda, and Bindu Chandramouli, deliver performances that are passable but don’t significantly stand out.

Chaitu Jonnalagadda have a genuine comic style and tollywood found another potential.

Technical Aspects

Sricharan Pakala, previously associated with movies like ‘Itlu Maredumilli Prajaneekam,’ ‘Ugram,’ and ‘Spy,’ injects a cheerful vibe into ‘Bubblegum.’ His handling of tracks like ‘Izzat,’ ‘Habibi Jilebi,’ and ‘Easy Peasy’ is satisfactory. His music and BGM are main assests to the film.

Suresh Ragutu’s cinematography fails to enhance the rather mundane love story.

Vithal Kosanam’s art direction stands out positively.

Telugu Funda Analysis

Aadi’s portrayal with a basthi mindset strikes a chord early on, establishing a robust beginning. The film intermittently sprinkles situational humor for light-hearted moments. Joel’s entry as a drama queen adds a unique touch, and the depiction of high-society culture feels authentic. However, the interval scene delivers an unexpected twist, reshaping initial perceptions significantly.

Yet, the film leans into predictable, shallow rom-com sequences without emotional depth. Janhvi’s abrupt shift in perspective undermines her character’s credibility, appearing clichéd and lacking depth in her development. Aadi’s depicted anger feels forced and inconsequential. The second half’s non-linear storytelling lacks creativity, while father-daughter conversations seem contrived. Additionally, the unrealistic portrayal of Aadi’s ascent detracts from the film’s overall realism.

Telugu Funda Analysis

Bubblegum is strictly only for the current generation youngsters whose mindset changes for short periods of time and the success of the movie rely entirely on on young audience.
