The Telugu Film Trade Council, Telangana State Film Trade Council, and Telugu Film Producers Council are once again addressing the issues surrounding Sankranti movie releases in the two states.
Amidst the Sankranti film releases, our three organizations conducted a meeting 15 days ago, inviting the five producers with movies in the Sankranti circle to discuss the prevailing situation and seek their cooperation. Every year, the Sankranti season witnesses a fierce competition among films, and this year is no exception, with five movies preparing to vie for the audience’s attention – “Hanuman,” “Eagle,” “Saindhav,” “Guntur Karam,” and “Na Sami Ranga.” The Eagle movie, originally part of the Sankranti lineup, faced complaints from the Chamber, leading to its rescheduling to February 9, thanks to the efforts of Vishwa Prasad, Vivek, and lead actor Shri Ravi Teja. It is commendable for a mass hero to adjust the release date, considering the complexities of the business environment.
Similarly, actors Shri Rajinikanth and Shri Dhanush, who were initially scheduled to release their movies during the Sankranti period, have cooperated and postponed their releases. Even Shri Siva Karthikeyan’s Tamil movie, slated for release during Sankranti, was rescheduled to the 19th after discussions with the producers. Sankranti, traditionally, embodies healthy competition among films in a congenial environment. In the context of Telugu cinema, our three organizations strive to take the lead in making decisions that ensure the well-being of heroes, producers, and directors, preventing any undue trouble.
However, certain social media platforms and other media outlets are contributing to an awkward atmosphere within the film industry during the Sankranti season. They do so by publishing biased articles and content for the sake of ratings and TRPs. We strongly condemn such platforms and media outlets for creating an environment of unnecessary conflict between fans, heroes, producers, and directors. Before publishing any articles on social media or other platforms, we urge them to contact our three organizations to ascertain the truth and report news responsibly.
While reporting news is acceptable, it is inappropriate to hurt the sentiments of others by disseminating false information based on personal bias or jealousy. It is crucial to avoid creating an atmosphere of tension within the industry by misinterpreting the words of artists, producers, or directors without understanding their context. Going forward, appropriate action will be taken against those who publish disturbing articles on social media and other platforms.
Our goal is to ensure a healthy and positive atmosphere within the industry. We wish for every movie released to be successful, contributing to the overall well-being of the industry. This letter will be sent to each journalist association and media association for their respective employers. We earnestly request the cooperation of Telugu journalists and media owners in taking appropriate action against those who make inappropriate comments, considering the long-standing association between the Telugu film industry and the media since its inception.
