The Spirit Media, which was founded by Rana Daggubati as a separate vertical under Suresh Productions has acquired the rights for Payal Kapadia’s critically acclaimed film All We Imagine as Light.
All We Imagine as light won the Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival this year. The film stars Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Chhaya Kadam and Hridhu Haroon.
This is Payal Kapadia’s first fictional directorial debut after her autobiographical documentary A Night of Knowing Nothing. This film was produced by France-based company Petit Chaos and c0-produced with Indian-based Chalk & Cheese Films and Another Birth along with Netherlands’s BALDR Film, Luxembourg’s Les Films Fauves, Italy’s Pulpa Films and France’s Arte France Cinéma.
“This film is about friendship between three different women and oftentimes women are pitted against each other, but for me friendship is a very important relationship because it can lead to greater solidarity, inclusivity and empathy towards each other”, said Payal Kapadia.
Rana Daggubati has previously backed a few independent films like Pareshan, C/O Kancharapalem and also the recent release 35 – Chinna katha Kaadu.
