Kaala Paani is a slightly futuristic (2027) survival drama of Seven episodes created by Sameer Saxena, Written by Biswapathi Sarkar, and Directed by Saxena and Amit Golai.
This is a new Genre for an Indian audience who doesn’t watch Korean survival dramas.
Story commences at Andaman And Nicobar Islands where the tourism season starts where thousands of tourists visit outnumbering Goa tourists. Beneath anyone’s knowledge,
a pandemic disease threatening to spread like wildfire among residents.
All the tourists gathered for the big festival, an administration flailing about, a crooked corporation desire for only money and too little conscience. In spite of a medical team fighting against tremendous odds to keep death at bay, the dark jungles where the original people of the islands have carved out precarious spots for themselves, the whole surrounded by the spectacular blue of the ocean.
The people trapped then understood why these waters are called Kaala Paani as it is impossible to escape from the cellular jail in Port Blair.
Survival of the fittest concept comes true and more people prapare to sacrifice the other people for their survival keeps the story engaging at the edge of the seat. The series is portrayed with many unknown faces amidst few familiar faces likes Mona Singh, Ashutosh Gowarkar, Sukant Goel, Amey Wagh, Vikas Singh, Chinmay Mandlekar, Radhika Mehrotra, Virendra Saxena and Arushi Sharma and few characters who makes the story watchable.
Mona Singh is a spirited doctor, Sukant Geol as local taxi driver, Amey as Cunning cop, Vikas as tourist stuck on the island, Chinmay Mandlekar as doctor, Radika Mehrotar as Newbie researcher, Virendr Saxena as the egoistic old man and Arushi Sharma a nurse who circles back to love.
Do these get to the safe zone within time ? Or the nature of deadly diseases take over them? Did Corporate greed win over human resilience? is the rest of the series.
