After the refusals from many OTT platforms, the makers of Fairy Folk had launched a new model of Pay-What-You-Like, where viewers can pay whatever they wish to watch the movie on its own website.
Fairy Folk was directed by Karan Gour and starring Mirzapur-fame Rasika Dugal and Mukul Chadda, It had a limited theatrical release in March 2024. It got good reviews from critics appreciating the value of its magic realism about human relationships.
The producers didn’t find any OTT platform and they have restituted to stream their movie on their website. This model may be democratising the independent art from the giants of OTT platforms.
“The struggles of independent film distribution are real, but we’re excited to bring our film directly to the audience through our website. This approach not only democratises access but also supports the spirit of independent filmmaking”, director Karan Gour said.
