Gam Gam Ganesha is a wanna-be funky heist thriller with no thrills but a few laughs.
Thrillers can be the easiest genres to write, you just have to hide something and reveal the logic later. Whoa! Audience is surprised. Meh! It is not that easy, Gam Gam Ganesha, written and directed by Uday Shetty, is a wanna-be funky heist thriller with no thrills but a few laughs.
After proving his acting potential in Baby (2023), Anand Devarakonda plays Ganesh, a small-scale thief landing up at a big heist without any effort. His fate throws him in the midst of a Ganesha idol, which is wanted by Kishore Reddy too as he has hidden 100 Crores in it. The ride begins, as usually, with multiple hurdles.
Anand as Ganesh is subpar. Immanuel as the hero’s side-kick does what he does well. The heroines are not needed at all in the movie. They don’t serve any purpose. Ganesh’s pursuit of romantic interest has no value to make you feel anything. Uday Shetty must know why they exist in the movie.
It is already evident that Vennela Kishore had become a sort of neo-Brahmanandam– coming in the second-half of the movie to “save” it. He does ‘save’ it, a bit. But, To save a sinking-ship, we need a better writer, not the best comedian. How long will the actors and writers depend on the comedians to back their mediocrity?
Finally, Gam Gam Ganesha might work as a pass-time movie that plays on your television when you have forgotten where the TV remote is.
