Ajaz Khan, the popular Bigg Boss Contestant, faced a big setback in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections. He ran for the Versova Constituency as a candidate of Chandrashekhar Azad’s Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram). However, early Election Results show he only got 103 votes. Shockingly, even the NOTA (None of the Above) option received more votes than him, with nearly 750 votes.
Despite having a Massive Social Media following of over 5.6 million on Instagram, Ajaz Khan couldn’t convert his online fame into actual votes. This loss adds to his previous defeat in the Lok Sabha Elections, where he also failed to gain significant support.
Ajaz Khan became Famous for his time on Bigg Boss, where his Controversial and Entertaining personality won him Loyal Fan Base. However, his Television fame didn’t help him in the Political Arena. His Celebrity Status wasn’t enough to connect with Voters, and his Political Campaign didn’t resonate with the people.
In the same Versova constituency, Haroon Khan from Shiv Sena (UBT) is Leading with over 11,000 Votes, beating Bharati Lavekar from the BJP.While Ajaz Khan faces disappointment, the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, including Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction, is expected to win big in Maharashtra. Projections show the alliance could win over 221 seats, delivering a heavy blow to the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition of Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Sharad Pawar’s NCP.
Ajaz Khan’s defeat Highlights a Key Challenge for Celebrity Candidates: fame from reality shows isn’t enough to win Elections. It’s clear that success in Politics requires strong Voter engagement and deeper connections with the Public.
