Prasar Bharati has announced its launch of new OTT Platform Waves. The new app available for both Android and IOS will be a free service for archival material of DD, Doordarshan and Prasar Bharati.
Prasar Bharati is an Indian state-owned broadcaster under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. It will also include the other content produced by various ministries. For example, cyber security awareness campaign in partnership with CDAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing), MeitY, supported by programs like ‘CyberCrime ki Duniya’ and ‘Cyber Alert.’along with an integrated e-commerce through ONDC (Open Network for Digital Commerce) which opened access to content creators and film schools.
The OTT Platform will have over 12+ language content and 36 live channels including channels like B4U, 9X Media and other news channels like Republic, ABP News, News24, NDTV India etc. it also has secured a few partnerships with Lionsgate for video content and Mud Games and Tag Labs for gaming content.
The revenue model is the broadcasters will receive about 65% revenue and 35% will be retained by Prasar Bharati.
