The spin-off to the probably the greatest Television series ever, Game of Thrones, is gearing to be the great again.
The cliffhanger that left us hungry for more in October of 2022. House of the Dragon premiered today, on June 17th in India, to satiate the GOT fans on Jio CInema.
Lucerys Velaryon (Elliot Grihault) is killed by Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell). Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) is now seeking vengeance on Aemond Targeryon. Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) has turned all hungry to avenge and claim the throne. She began to play the politics as his father Otto Hightower had wished.Larys Strong (Matthew Needham) continues to play the key-pawn-mover in Westeros. This is the stage you will be facing after the tremendous character development of season 1 in House of the Dragon.
“A Son for a Son” strats the series where it left off. After the brutal murder of Lucerys Velaryon by blind-eyed Aemond Targaryen, Jacaerys Velaryon goes to bring allies to Driftwood, House of Arryn and House of Starks. Saddened and angered by the death of her son, Rhaenyra Targaryen orders to bring Aemond Targeryon. Obviously, Daemon Targaryen is on his hunt. But, the twist, or perhaps the mishap, at the end of the episode will certainly have the incredible impact in the future episodes.
The writing is commendable as usual. Be it Game of Thrones or House of the Dragons, as long as George R R Martin– the original author of books from which the series is adapted from– is on board, the writing of strategic fights situated around dim-lit boardrooms and secluded conversations revealing the true intentions, and of course aims, of the characters is always as interesting as anything we have seen till now on a Television series. The slow-cooking of the drama just to explode at somewhere, sometime, somehow is what we anticipate with the series from the genius George R R Martin. The pilot episode of Season 2 had clearly ready-ed the stage for the big action that will alter the politics of Westeros in unexpected ways. Let’s hope for the best and wait for the next 7 days.
