Renu Desai Opens Up About Her role as Hemalatha Lavanam in ‘Tiger Nageswara Rao

The much awaited pan India project ‘Tiger Nageswara Rao’ is a crazy combination of mass maharaja Ravi Teja, director Vamsi and Abhishek Agarwal Arts Abhishek Agarwal. Presented by Tej Narayan Aggarwal and produced by Mayank Singhania, Nupur Sanon and Gayatri Bharadwaj are the heroines in this film. With gripping teaser, massive trailer and chartbuster songs, Tiger already creates huge buzz nationwide. Actress Renu Desai, who played the pivotal role of Hemalatha Lavanam in the film, shared the special features of ‘Tiger Nageswara Rao’ in a press conference in the backdrop of the film’s grand worldwide release on October 20.

Tell us about the role of Hemalatha Lavanam?
Hemalatha Lavanam has a larger than life personality. In those days, he went to Chambal and Bundelkhand and did many reforms there with the decoys. He also fought against the Jogini system and untouchability. Hemalatha Lavanam will inspire the younger generation audience through this movie. My antecedents are good enough to do such a great role. Tiger Nageswara Rao is a big movie. Director Vamsi will go to the national level with this movie. It is an honor to work in Abhishek’s production and to share the screen with Ravi Teja. Above all, I feel lucky to play the role of Hemalatha Lavanam.

How did you prepare for this role?
I met some people to know about her. I met Lavanam’s niece Kirtigari in Vijayawada. He gave a lot of information about her. All of that helped when doing this role, naturally my head moves a lot when I speak. But Hemalatha Lavanam garu is very stable and sober. I have worked on consistent body language. I have also prepared Telugu clearly. I honestly tried to look like her. This role gave me a lot of satisfaction.

What changes did the character of Hemalatha Lavanam bring about in you?
Made a lot of difference. Socially, what has been done so far is not enough. Still wanted to work. My goal is that no young child should go hungry. We should work in that direction as much as possible.

Heroine, designer, now character artist.. How is this journey?
You should be clear about the designer. I am not a designer. I am an original stylist. Designer work is different. I have a good understanding of colors. I am arts student. I understand which color matches which. I am only a stylist. Even the styling was not planned and done by me. When Khushi went shopping with Kalyan before the film, he liked my styling sense. He said you do it yourself. Also social events, writing poetry, all these are not planned.

How was working with Ravi Teja?
Working with Ravi Teja was definitely a great experience. I will tell more about Ravi Teja in the pre-release event of this movie. I have specially prepared a speech for this.

Did you take a break from acting?
I feel like acting. But the story. Character, director and producer should come together. Now Tiger Nageswara Rao has got three. I will definitely act if I get good roles.

What is the best compliment you have received so far for the movie ‘Tiger Nageswara Rao’?
After watching the trailer, my daughter said, ‘I am very proud of playing a role suitable for her age’. This is the biggest compliment to me.

When will Akira be introduced as a hero?
Akira is not interested in becoming a hero till now. Akiradhi is a very different personality. Learned piano. He also learned about film production. He learned yoga, martial arts, kick boxing. He likes writing. He also wrote a script. But till now he did not say that he will become an actor. If he decides to become a hero, I will announce it before everyone else.

Do you want Akira to come in movies?
Every mother wants to see her son on the big screen. I have too. But before he wants to be a hero, he has to feel. He is beautiful to look at. He has all the qualities that an actor needs. I am an actress. Their father and Pedananna are actors. As a mother, I want to see how he looks on screen.

How did it feel to work in Abhishek Agarwal’s production?
So far all the construction companies I have worked with have treated me with great respect. But I am not the heroine in Tiger Nageswara Rao. Besides, I am acting after many days. I was a little afraid of how the treatment would be. But Abhishek Bhaiyya and Archana have become like family members. He was treated with great respect and courtesy. I was under no pressure as long as this film was done. Making this film was a lot of fun.

Will you continue acting?
I always want to continue acting. If I get good roles for my age, I will definitely do it.
